Barra and Vatersay Projects

All Barra and Vatersay projects are listed below:

Past/Current/Future projects for the Isles of Barra & Vatersay:

Vatersay:  A variety of projects including: hall associated improvements; erosion works; access to monuments and beaches; recycling of waste.

Northbay Port Users Project: Three phase development of the existing pier in Northbay aiming to improve the standards of facilities available.

The Northbay Community Initiative: A community led multistage project developing facilities in and around Northbay Hall.  The project will include renovations and an extension to the existing hall; installation of heating to the hall; development of park land associated with the hall to provide sports and leisure amenities.

Castlebay Fishery Pier Project: this project aims to develop a pier to allow the landing of fish in the vacinity of Castlebay.

Hebridean Food Festival: this project aims to develop and promote production and consumption of locally produced food.

Eoligarry: a variety of projects concentrated around the village of Eoligarry, specific projects include; an erosion project; access projects; tourism related works and heritage developments.

Renewable Energy: Barra and Vatersay Community Limited, plan to investigate whether it is possible to develop a community owned wind farm, with a view to generating monies which would be reinvested in the development of the Island community.
