Ardnamurchan have been working hard to establish their development and action plan and have a number of good projects underway, including:
- The development of the sports field facilities at Kilchoan
- The Millenium Wood Project
- New Play Park at Kilchoan
- Pontoon facility at Polloch
- Lifeline Roads Campaign for B8007
- New School Build - Acharacle Primary School
Acharacle Community Company have been able to acquire the tearoom, post office and post office house in Acharacle. This has ensured that the area has retained and provided a number of jobs, both full time and part time. This project has also meant the provision of a community office, where the IatE local development officer is based. The group are looking into other issues including land purchase, recycling and energy efficient laundry business.
The main campaigns for the second half of 2003 will be concentrating on improvements to the B8007 Salen to Kilchoan road and the new build of the primary school in Acharacle
The group are well organised and managed and they have a clear focus of where the priorities are for Ardnamurchan. The number of projects completed varies from the small mother & toddler group to the new sports field at Kilchoan. There are innovative projects in the pipeline including the provision of creche facilities, disaster planning, Wood Fuel and Biomass.
Ardnamurchan has entered the exit phase of Initiate at the Edge programme and is preparing for stand alone sustainability from September 2006..
